PDF tools for schools
An essay, a report card, a support plan all carry a student's name. 22 of the tools on this site open them in your browser without sending them anywhere; the other 9 do send them, and the colour of their dot says so before anything is dropped.

Why the place of processing matters in a school
Uploading a document to an online service means handing it to a third party. When that document carries a student's personal data, the transfer has to be covered by the school, and most free PDF services were never chosen or approved by it. The useful question is not whether the service is honest: it is whether you can say where the file went.
Cyan dot: the document stays on the computer
These 22 tools run inside the browser tab. The file is opened, not uploaded: it never reaches our servers, so there is nothing to delete afterwards. You can check this without taking our word for it: open the network tab of the developer tools, or switch the connection off once the page has loaded, and the tools keep working.
Amber dot: the document leaves, and we say so
These 9 tools genuinely need a server: text recognition, office conversions, repair, translation. The file is sent encrypted to our machine, hosted in Germany, and deleted after 2 hours. Translation also passes the text to a language-model provider. For a student's document, keep them for the cases your school covers.
No account, no advertising, no third-party tracker
No tool asks you to sign up or adds a watermark, and the 22 local tools have no usage limit. The 9 server tools accept 20 submissions per hour and per address: behind a school's connection, that cap is shared by every computer. The site shows no advertising and loads no script from another domain. Audience measurement, hosted on our servers, sets no cookie; it recognises the same computer for a month, never from one site to another, and anyone can refuse it from the privacy page.
For a school, a district, a university
If your staff also need the server tools, they install on a machine you administer: three containers, the same setup that runs this site. The document then never leaves your network, whatever the tool, with the single exception of translation, which calls a language model with your own key.
