What this tool does
A PDF often carries more than it shows: its author's name, the software that produced it, sometimes the original file path. Read them, correct them, or wipe the lot before publishing.

Frequently asked questions
- What does a PDF carry without showing it?
- The title, author, subject, keywords, the software that produced it and the one that wrote it, the creation and modification dates. Often a colleague's name or the path to an internal folder, visible to anyone who opens the file properties.
- Does clearing metadata change how the document looks?
- No, nothing visible moves. These fields live alongside the content; emptying them touches neither the text, nor the images, nor the layout.
- Is that enough to anonymise a document?
- No. Metadata is only one layer: the text itself may name someone, and an image may show them. To remove information from the content, use Redact.
