Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know the password?
Yes. The encryption is not broken, it is passed through: without the right password nothing is possible. This tool frees a document you can already open, typically a statement locked with a customer number.
My PDF refuses edits without asking for a password: why?
Many so-called protected documents carry a permissions password and open with an empty one. Try submitting nothing at all: that is the most common case.
Does the document lose anything on the way?
No. Only the encryption layer is removed; pages, fonts, bookmarks and annotations are carried across untouched.
